Blogging from the International Summer School on Grid Computing 2008 (ISSGC'08)

The International Summer School on Grid Computing is an institution in the grid computing community, proving itself year after year as a forum for fostering research and innovation in grid computing. ISSGC'08 is no exception. Grid-interested students from all over the world are coming together to learn, to listen, and to add to efforts to make grid computing a globally recognised tool for enabling all-new ways of doing science. Check out ISSGC school materials in the ICEAGE digital library or go straight to the blog to see what's new at ISSGC'08.

International Summer School on Grid Computing 2008 - BLOGGERS

Yona Yona Raekow
With little experience in grid computing, Yona started in one of the largest grid projects funded by the EU: BEinGRID, which she says is a lot of fun, especially travelling all over Europe. Yona received her masters degree in computer science from the University of Connecticut. Since she is still interested in mystery, she is persuing her PhD in cryptography at the University of Bonn in Germany.
alain.j.roy Alain J. Roy
Alain has been working with the Condor Project since 2001. Currently, his major role there is to work with the Open Science Grid as Software Coordinator. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his children or baking bread. Alain is a staff member at ISSGC'08.
Giulio GALIERO Valeria Mele
Valeria is from Naples and has a degree in computer science. She is now a PhD student at the University of Naples Federico II, working with parallel software in image processing. Valeria is very interested in high power computing and grid computing. She joined ISSGC'08 to learn more about grids... and to meet interesting people.
Giulio GALIERO Giulio Galiero
Giulio is fairly new to grid computing. He has been working on grid technologies since the begininning of 2007, when he joined the Engineering Ingegneria Informatica S.p.A R&D Grid Unit. He is currently involved in GriFin, a national project about grid and finance, dealing with security issues related to this area. During his free time, he loves enjoying life, juggling and... going to Hungary!
Tony Rosequist Tony Rosequist
Tony is a computer science undergraduate at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He hasn't had any direct experience in grid computing, but many of his professors specialize in supercomputing, peer-to-peer systems, and so on, and he'd like to become more involved in these things. Plus, he's never been overseas before, so is pretty excited about the entire trip.
ben_clifford

Ben Clifford
Ben has been working on grid software since the dawn of the 21st Century. He trained as a mathematician before moving into software development, working mostly on the Globus Toolkit and Swift. When he isn't doing that, he spends most of him time on a global barhopping mission. Ben is a staff member at ISSGC'08.

Cristina Cristina del Cano Novales
Cristina studied architecture at the Polytechnic University in Madrid, but soon discovered that she preferred computers over bricks, so she left sunny Spain to study computing and intelligent systems at Oxford Brookes University. Since graduating last year, Cristina has been working with grid technology for a government research laboratory in the UK.
ben_clifford Ben Sterrett
Ben is an undergraduate in Computer Science at Clemson University. He has recently taken courses in grid/distributed computing and computation theory, both of which interest him greatly. He has since had silly thoughts of changing the world somehow. He has a distracting tendency to play too many video games, and he enjoys taking pictures of people when they least expect it.
Cristy Burne Cristy Burne
A biotechnologist with zero experience in IT, Cristy somehow spent last year editing iSGTW and has now joined the GridTalk team to continue her foray in to computer science. Cristy has worked as a technical editor in Japan, a science presenter in South Africa, and a freelance writer in Australia.
Corentin Corentin Chevalier
Corentin is GridTalk's technical wizard and has just joined the grid universe. He's specialized in website conception, particularly flash, animations and dynamic systems. He also keeps close track of new technologies and concepts, of which grid computing is a biggie.
