Blogging from Enabling Grids for E-sciencE 2008 (EGEE'08)

Grid computing is now an essential daily tool for an ever increasing number of researchers and scientists to meet their e-science challenges. As EGEE (Enabling Grids for E-sciencE) and related grid infrastructures move towards a sustainable, interoperable model it is important for new and existing Grid users to come together with national, regional and scientific audiences to develop and consolidate plans for a reliable, seamless infrastructure on a global scale.

The EGEE'08 conference will provide the perfect opportunity for both business and academic sectors to network with the EGEE communities, collaborating infrastructure and application projects, developers, decision makers alike, to realize this vision and make it happen.

Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE) 2008 - BLOGGERS

Catherine Gater Catherine Gater
Catherine has a background in Materials Science and a keen interest in talking about scientific research rather than doing any herself. Having spent several years communicating science for employers as diverse as museums, government laboratories and universities, she is now Dissemination Manager for EGEE at CERN and has an international organisation to add to the set.
Cristy Burne José Luis Vázquez-Poletti
Half Spanish, half Italian, fully European. José Luis researchs and teaches at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. On EGEE he is involved in Regional Coordination and Application Porting Support activities. After the great experience achieved while blogging from the 2nd EGEE User Forum, he is back for more.
Cristy Burne Stephanie Parker
Stephanie Parker chairs EGEE's Business Forum, which is chartered with helping companies capitalise on open source grid technologies. EGEE's Business Partners, like Trust-IT, show companies how they can benefit from working with them on various levels. The EGEE Business Associate Programme is one example of this. She loves art & art history. In her spare time she travels around Tuscany in search of good wine & food, commenting on quality & service, so if you're ever in the area and need any tips.
Sy Holsinger

Sy Holsinger
Sy Holsinger (Pittsburgh, PA, USA) has a background in business communications and now is a project manager for Trust-IT Services. Within EGEE, Sy is the deputy dissemination manager with a focus on business relations and techology transfer. More fun activities consist of playing golf and teaching his British counterparts the effective/correct use of the English language.

Danielle Amy Venton

Danielle Venton
Originally from the West Coast of the US, Danielle currently lives in Switzerland and works in the EGEE communications team. After graduating from Humboldt State with a degree in biology, she worked at a riding stable, in a wine lab, as a math tutor, in a national park and as a freelance writer before finding her way to CERN, where she now writes about grid computing.

Cristy Burne Gillian Sinclair
After spending most of her life in Scotland, Gillian moved to the foreign climes of England, Manchester to be precise, where she is the Liaison Officer for the UK National Grid Service (NGS) and also participates in EGEE through the dissemination, outreach and communication activities. Bit of a change from her PhD in Environmental Microbiology!
Gillian is also a big fan of tea and cake.
Cristy Burne John Gordon
John works in the e-Science centre at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire, UK. He’s been running large computing services for UK scientists for too many years. Since the Grid started John has been working to make these services part of the Grid. John works on Operations in EGEE, as well the WLCG and GridPP projects so he has had a wide exposure to the Grid.
Cristy Burne Cristy Burne
A biotechnologist with zero experience in IT, Cristy somehow spent last year editing iSGTW and has now joined the GridTalk team to continue her foray in to computer science. Cristy has worked as a technical editor in Japan, a science presenter in South Africa, and a freelance writer in Australia.
Corentin Corentin Chevalier
Corentin is GridTalk's technical wizard and has just joined the grid universe. He's specialized in website conception, particularly flash, animations and dynamic systems. He also keeps close track of new technologies and concepts, of which grid computing is a biggie.
